John Kerry Fundraisers
The following is a blog entry written by Dave for John Kerry.com.
On the road with Dave Grohl
Yesterday was Milwaukee, my first stop with the Kerry/Edwards bunch. I must say, I’ve never seen such a massive group of people move with such organization and ease, and still make it seem like a family trip. Seriously, I’m starting to realize that that’s exactly what it is. Seeing Mr. Kerry and his wife cool down from an inspiring town hall session, while sitting with son Andre over lunch……..you realize the bond that keeps them aloft is the love that they share as a family — very cool, very true. I have another performance today, a little nervous, but that’s nothing new. Milwaukee was definitely different than the crowd I’m used to rocking. Can’t say that we get many WWII vets at Foo Fighters shows, but there’s always time! The crowd was great, though, and I think they got what I was trying to say with my song “My Hero”. Looking forward to this evening — not sure what to play yet, but like we say out here on the road, “We’ll figure it out….” It’s such an honor to be here, I’m very thankful that the Kerry campaign gave me this wonderful opportunity. I’ve done a few things in my life that I’m very proud of, but this one might take the cake: Using my music to stand up for something I believe in. Not as a “celebrity’, not as a “rock star”, but as an American kid from Springfield, Virginia. Don’t worry, I won’t be running for office anytime soon……but this sure is fun!!! Go Kerry!
