More Milk + Bookies

Apr 22

I meant to have these pictures up sooner, but …life.

Kathryn aka “Knoxy” to us nerds sent in these photos from the Milk + Bookies event where her too cool for EVERYONE son, Adin aka “Awesomepants” hung out with Dave. I hear Adin is going to be in a band called “Fist Full of Flannel”.  Nice work, Adin.

If and when I ever officially make it out to California, I volunteer to babysit Adin.

Rachael Smith sent in a few of her photos that she took at the Isle of Wight 2011 show:

Rachael also made these Wallpapers:

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I know that a lot of you have been checking in on me and that I haven’t replied much. Believe me – I appreciate everyone asking. I thought that it might be a little bit easier to take my personal blog out of retirement and just make a personal update there so you can either access it HERE, or you can click on the “Communicate” link up at the top of the page and select “Leecy’s Blog”. I am going to try really hard to just keep updating it with what’s going on with me and maybe I won’t feel so guilty about not being able to reply to all the e mails etc.

Sticking to reality-based Dave Grohl news this week…..

Dave made an appearance at the Milk + Bookies Third Annual Story Time Celebration today.  I heard a certain Adin Awesomepants was in the audience and that he got a photo op with DG.

Here are a few photos of the event:

Butch Vig “tweeted” the other day: “The last 24 hours have been surreal! Had a great gig at the El Rey last night, and spent today recording with Dave, Krist (Novoselic) and special guest!”

I’m not going to speculate. I’ll just say that I’m looking forward to whatever it may be…!  This would be a good example of how to correctly use Twitter…to those out there that don’t seem to know how. *cough*

Happy March. Can we get some better weather, please? I’m sick of winter.

Dave was at Milk & Bookies last night which is a literacy awareness event held in Los Angeles. Here are a few photos of him. They’re watermarked, but you get the idea. The funny thing is that the AP tagged him as “Actor Dave Grohl” so I guess that whole Saturday Night Live skit thing is really working out for him … you know, in case that music career doesn’t pan out.

Thanks to Karina & Caro for these

Joe Cool in the glasses:

I got a lot of e mails & “tweets” from you kids asking me about THIS. Generally everyone was trying to figure out if they should somehow get out to The Echo to see Dave perform with SCREAM again. Fear not, Dave was not on drums last night. This is the original line up for SCREAM and if you remember, Dave was not an original member. Here’s where this gets interesting (for me at least). The group that opened up for SCREAM last night – The Holloys – had a guitarist by the name of Jon Gonnelli…also guitarist for Rye Coalition and currently The Black Hollies.. and he just so happens to be a really good friend of mine too so I wrote Jon last night and he assured me that this is the original line up and also I guess two of the members of The Holloys are really old friends with Pete and Franz Stahl and if you don’t know who they are, well then you need to do your Dave Grohl homework…and I’m very disappointed in you.

Thanks, Jon. 😉

Milk + Bookies Hosts First Annual Story Time Celebration in Los Angeles Sunday February 28, 2010

Please read up on that as Dave is involved.

I just completely went blank. I know I had one more item to share. I blame old age, lack of sleep, and the fact that I have almost 200 e mails in my inbox that I haven’t even started to reply to. I promise if you wrote me that I’ll get back to you soon.

Next adventure? Las Vegas, NV in April. I think you know what’s going on. I’ll be there and looking forward to meeting so many of you that I have talked to over the years. See you there!
